Rune's first animation job was at the age of 16 at A-film Denmark in 1992, while planning to attend art school when he turned 18. However upon turning 18, he was already hired by Amblimation in London as a professional animator, followed by Disney Feature Animation in Orlando Florida when he turned 21.
Rune has worked as an animator, character designer, story artist, story board artist, head of character animation on a number of feature films including but not limited to: Asterix and the Vikings, Enchanted, Brother Bear, Lilo & Stitch, Mulan, The Tigger Movie, Balto, Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Captain Underpants, Croods 2, How to Train Your Dragon 3, Love Death & Robots.
In addition to animation, Rune has also done visual development work for several films including, Kingdom of the Sun before the film was changed to The Emperors New Groove working on llama design, and chief character design for Brother Bear, for which he received an Annie Award nomination. Rune has also animated, designed and directed commercials for over a decade, most notably Kellogg's Fruit Loops commercials for more than ten years, and the Gatorade Woods of Wisdom campaign with Tiger Woods.
He is currently working as a Head of Story at Netflix Animation.
Rune's family also has a history of artistic talent: His great-grandfather painted portraits for Danish parliament, his grandfather is an architect, painter and sculptor, his father owned an art gallery in Denmark for some time, and his parents both have an interest in drawing and painting.
